Rep. Ellmers on Speaker John Boehner's Resignation

Statement

Date: Sept. 25, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC-02) released the following statement after Speaker of the House of Representatives, John Boehner, announced his resignation at the end of October.

"I thank the Speaker for his 25 years of honorable and selfless service. His willingness to step down for the betterment of the institution so that we can more closely unify our party demonstrates his love for our country. He works tirelessly behind the scenes to bring people together and improve the lives of many, including inner city youth and those without a voice. In time, I believe that history will reveal his character and allow for all to judge him fairly. I wish the Speaker and his wife, Debbie, all the best in their future endeavors."
